The Story Continues…

With over half the year already gone, 2026 has been proving a busy one for the Dave Barkshire team.
 
This June we celebrated 43 years in the business at the Dave Barkshire Motorcycles. Since opening his first shop in Lenwade in 1983, Dave Barkshire has become a big name across Norfolk, and it is great to celebrate this achievement with you all.
 
Thank you to all our customers treating themselves to new bikes, riders using our dirt track and budding motorcyclists attending out training school. Your loyalty has ensured our success story.
 
The arrival of Spring gave many of you the incentive to take to the road, be it in the UK, Europe or even further afield. Equally, as we had more than our fair share of spring showers, you were able to take to the mud and puddles of the dirt trails.
 
If the latter is your ride of choice, then our Hit the Dirt off-road forest Enduro track near Swaffham is the place to come. It’s proved a great training ground for enduro riders of all levels, from beginners to riders preparing for Enduro Championships. If you’re looking for a challenge, we look forward to seeing you there.
 
At our training school we’ve helped many would-be motorcyclists take safely to the roads over the years and we look forward to welcoming many more in the future. It’s great that we meet so many riders, from so many walks of life and age groups, successfully completing their training.
 
Now the temperatures are rising and we could find ourselves in sweltering conditions (you never know!). Remember to wear full protective gear, even on the hottest days to keep safe and ensure to stay well hydrated when riding to help you remain alert.

The start of 2026 saw many of our loyal customers treating themselves to new enduro, motocross and road bikes, but we also welcomed new customers who took delivery of their chosen bikes.

Riding into Summer

The start of 2025 not only saw many of our loyal customers treating themselves to new motocross, enduro and road bikes, but we also welcomed new customers who took delivery of their chosen bikes.

This Spring’s early warmth has encouraged riders to take to the road and many of our bikes have been across the UK, Europe and beyond on numerous foreign routes. As we see every year, riders will move back towards the dirt in the autumn when there is mud and puddles on the trails…

This year we have successfully trained more new riders through our Training School and we are very proud to have supported these motorcyclists of the future. Those of us from a certain era were born to ride, but these days there is a reduction in the take up of two wheels, so we must do our bit to ensure that budding riders enjoy motorcycles as much as we do, but with much better training than we were given.

Our off-road track near Swaffham, Hit the Dirt has again proved to be an invaluable training ground for both enduro racers and beginners alike, with another great season of riding development despite being closed a couple of times due to bad weather. For those preparing for events such as the Dave Barkshire 2-man Enduro Championship or riders who just relish a challenge, it’s the place to come.

Our Rackheath showroom continues to offer new road and off-road models from Fantic, Rieju, Sherco and our commuter bikes from Kymco. On this note, we are pleased to confirm that since the start of the year we have become the GPX Enduro and Kove Rally dealers in our region so please come and talk to us about your next new motocross, enduro or trials bike.

Hit the Dirt Enduro Track Open this Weekend

The track is again open this weekend, Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th of May with its new layout and the support of the Forestry Commission. The team have been working on the track layout that will rise well for the upcoming weekends. info@davebarkshire.com to book!

We're pleased to offer both the senior/ main and junior/ beginner tracks in a great forest setting, which provide a great challenge and endless enjoyment. There is a handy refreshment area where you can purchase a variety of hot and cold food and drinks. So now you can make a day of it, ride the tracks, meet up with friends and enjoy some refreshment!  

At Hit The Dirt, we're proud to be associated with the Auto-Cycle Union (ACU), the top organisation for motorcycle sport, and the complete professionalism of the Forestry Commission, who do such a great job managing our woodlands across the country.

Since the start of the year, we have trained and delivered new riders through our Training School and we are very proud to have supported these motorcyclists of the future.

Those of us from a certain era were born to ride, but these days there is a reduction in the take up of two wheels, so we are doing our bit to make sure they enjoy motorcycles as much as us, but with much better training than we had.

Our off-road track near Swaffham, Hit the Dirt has also been an invaluable training ground for both enduro racers and beginners alike, with another new year of riding development despite being closed a couple of times due to the recent weather.

The beginning of 2023 saw new customers take delivery of their bikes along with our loyal customers treating themselves to new motocross, enduro and road bikes. The summer warmth really encouraged the road riding and many of our bikes have been across Europe and beyond, exploring the Alps, South America and numerous foreign roads. As we see every year, riders move back towards the dirt in autumn when there is mud and puddles on the trails.

This year we have trained and delivered an unprecedented number of new riders through our Training School and we are very proud to have supported these motorcyclists of the future. Those of us from a certain era were born to ride, but these days there is a reduction in the take up of two wheels, so we must do our bit to make sure they enjoy motorcycles as much as us, but with much better training than we had.

Our off-road track near Swaffham, Hit the Dirt has again been the invaluable training ground for both enduro racers and beginners alike, with another great year of riding development despite being closed a couple of times due to the recent heavy rainfall.

Our Rackheath showroom continues to offer new road and off-road models from Rieju, Fantic and commuter bikes from Kymco. After 24 years as a KTM dealer we can confirm the rumour that this chapter is now drawing to a close. It has been a privilege to be a founding dealer for KTM in the UK and see the brand grow globally, however it’s now time for a change and a new challenge for us. On this note, we are pleased to confirm that we are now also the Sherco dealer in our region so please come and talk to us about your next new motocross, enduro or trials bike.

What a busy time

What a busy time it has been this year at Dave Barkshire with happy customers on their new bikes. 

Throughout this
summer there have been a lot of eager riders undergoing motorcycle training at our dedicated centre, with some fantastic results across CBT, Mod 1 and Mod 2 riders with great success.  

And of course, you can visit our Motorcycle Centre on Rackheath to buy a brilliant new or used bike that suits you. It’s been great to hand over keys to many proud new owners over recent months.

Keys To A Great Ride!

 

The Dave Barkshire Motorcycle team have been working hard this year, be it a bit differently at times, to provide key services for all you avid motorcycle riders out there.

 

We endeavoured to provide MOT slots and workshop services for key workers throughout March, April and beyond. Remember we’re here to give your machine a full service, as keeping your bike in A1 condition is key to its performance and your safety.

 

Although our popular Hit The Dirt track was closed for a time, we were delighted to re-open it in July. You can still enjoy all the thrills and spills that the Enduro circuit has to offer, but by appointment, and whilst being mindful of current guidelines that are key to giving everyone a safe and enjoyable time.
