Winter Round-Up

As Autumn turns to winter, we’ve seen the final round of the Dave Barkshire Two Man Enduro Championship, another clutch of great motorcycle test passes, and sadly a few bad weather closures at the Hit The Dirt Track.

The final round of the Dave Barkshire Two Man Enduro Championship took place at the Little Loveney Hall Wakes Colne track at the end of October, organised by the Halstead Motor Cycle Club. The challenging track featured many twists and turns and made for an exciting event. We’re now looking forward to next year’s championship and any new challenges that may offer.

Our training centre has been busy putting many eager riders through their paces with great success. Some riders have passed both their Mod 1 and Mod 2 tests in the last couple of months including Sean, Julian, Jonathan and Lee. Alex breezed through a Mod 1 pass, whilst Foster, Jake, Scott, Chris, Nathan, Craig, Andrew and Damian all mastered their Mod 2 with flying colours! If you’re looking for high standard motorcycle training at a well-equipped facility with first class instructors, then visit www.davebarkshiremotorcycletraining.co.uk

Meanwhile, the change in the weather has meant that we’ve had to close the Hit The Dirt off-road track on several occasions in recent weeks, but always endeavour to open whenever possible. You can keep abreast of track conditions and closures by visiting our website http://www.hitthedirtdb.net/ or Facebook page www.facebook.com/Hit-The-Dirt-496006623743122

Enduro Action

Drama, excitement and a closely fought battle were the order of the day at the fourth round of the Dave Barkshire Motorcycles Two Man Enduro Championship, organised by the Sudbury Motorcycle Club at Tye Farm. Conditions were great for racing, making it a great day for riders and spectators alike, with plenty of action including perfect score rounds and a bad fall from Sam Toy.

The Barkshire ‘boys’ have been competing in the championship, with Alex riding in the Expert Class and Aaron taking part in the Clubman Class. We’re pleased to report that Alex and fellow rider Danny Wright achieved third position in their class championship. Meanwhile, Aaron and his teammate Kyle Betts were favourites in the Clubman class, but unfortunately were unable to ride in the fourth round. However, despite this setback, they’re provisionally in a tie for second place.

Enduro Excitement

At Dave Barkshire Motorcycles we’re great believers in community spirit and feel that if you become successful in your chosen field, then it’s good to ‘put something back’ into your area of expertise. That’s why we’re proud sponsors of the ACU Eastern Centres 2-Man Enduro Championship event.

It’s been an exciting year for the Dave Barkshire Motorcycles Two Man Enduro Championship starting with Round 1 on 24th April at Windolphs Farm, Bury St Edmonds. Following overnight rain, the two-session event was decided on time penalties.
Round 2 took place on Sunday 21st August at Wattisfield Hall and was organised by the Diss MotorCycle Club, where Championship Class favourites, Lewis Bond and Tom Braddock (both of Lowestoft) were victorious by just point 33 of a lap. It was a fantastic day with our sponsored riders coming 1st in championship, 4th in expert and 1st in clubman.

On September 11th it was over to Kenton Farm in Debenham for Round 3 of this exciting championship, organised by the Stowmarket Club, with tension mounting, as the fourth round of the 2016 Championship takes place this Sunday, 18th September at Tye Farm, Great Cornard. This will be organised by the Sudbury Motorcycle Club with local resident and Sudbury member Stephen Green teaming up with his brother Mark for the event.

It’s great to be involved with such an exciting event, with such enthusiastic riders – good luck to them all in Round 4!

Has this got you in the mood for riding on a great practice Enduro track yourself? Head over to http://www.hitthedirtdb.net/ to read more about our popular Hit The Dirt facility.

Great Weather, Great Results!

The weather’s been kinder to us in recent weeks, which has been great news for riders at Dave Barkshire Motorcycle Training and our off-road track Hit The Dirt alike.

After so many wet weekends earlier in the year, making the track a bit of a quagmire, it’s been great to see so many riders enjoying our Hit The Dirt facility. We love to hear all your comments – keep them coming! Here are a few of the ones we’ve enjoyed so far:
“Absolutely awesome track, just down the road from me, ideal opportunity to get that last minute practice in before events to set the bike up with also or just have a laugh with your mates!” Luke Yallop
“Great enduro practice track, good facility’s and cheap” Chris Northern
“This is a top track and wicked fun, if your getting into enduro or what to try something different to Moto X this is well worth a visit” “Brilliant place well worth going to and thanks to the guys running it.” Alex Whitelaw

We must also give a mention and a big thank you to Di Summers Masters who has been serving hot and cold food and drinks at the Hit The Dirt track. Di says, “Great weekend at the track, boys rode really well … Di’s Diner also there doin’ well … every weekend sat and sun! … Track looks fabulous!”

Meanwhile at Dave Barkshire Motorcycle Training, we’ve had a bumper crop of successful riders to join our hall of fame.

From riders successfully completing their CBT (Adam, Laura, Matt, Dan, Sam and Charles) to a huge number of individuals passing their mod 1 and mod 2 tests, it’s been epic!

Add caption
Special mentions must go to Ty with outstanding mod 1 and mod 2 passes, Sally and Ciaran for fantastic mod 2s and Harrison for flying through his A2 mod 2 test – we expect a flypast when he makes it as a pilot in the RAF!

It’s great to see so many successful riders once again – we enjoy seeing them climb up the ranks completing various modules, some in an amazingly short time.

Dave’s Summer News

This summer is seeing exciting times for both Dave Barkshire Motorcycle Centre and Used Bikes and Dave Barkshire Motorcycle Training, although the weather has been particularly unkind to our Hit The Dirt Off-road Practice Track, with rain causing repeated closures.

Good progress has been made on the construction of our new motorbike showroom at Rackheath, Norwich, with the outer steel construction complete and the concrete flooring eagerly anticipated. Finally the doors, windows and interior work will be added and we’ll be good to go! We’re sure customers will love our improved showroom area displaying the many great motorcycles and range of clothing, accessories and spare parts that we offer. For more information visit www.davebarkshireusedbikes.co.uk

Word has obviously spread around Norwich about our Motorcycle Training facility and the number of successful riders that we’ve turned out in recent months, as many more motorcyclists of all ages and backgrounds are signing up for training courses and tests. We offer a complete motorcycle-training package at our purpose-built Salhouse training centre, delivered by highly experienced instructors, aimed at all riders from beginners to improvers. Read more at www.davebarkshiremotorcycletraining.co.uk

So now all we’re hoping for is some dry and settled weather so that we can open our popular Hit The Dirt Track regularly over the coming months. We don’t want to have to declare, “The track is ‘as wet as an otters pocket’” any more this summer, but intend to be open every weekend (weather permitting). Keep up with the latest on this by visiting http://www.hitthedirtdb.net/

Passes and Paint

There have been exciting times at Dave Barkshire Motorcycle Training. In addition to a flurry of eager riders taking their tests, our training ground has been given a bit of a makeover. The ground’s had a great new paint job courtesy of Cullum Line, so a massive thanks to them for doing such a great job!

We’ve had a number of riders successfully completing their CBT courses in recent weeks, including a great young rider, George, who demonstrated excellent awareness and safety on his ride around Norwich, despite only be 16 years of age! Other successful CBT riders, included father and son Ricky and Adrian, James, Sally, Louis, Jamie, Jo and John – well done to you all!

A large number of riders have also passed their Mod 1 tests recently with impressive results. Clean sheet passes were achieved by Steve (despite wet conditions), Chris (who was thanked by the examiner for a pleasant ride and told, "that's how a mod 2 should be done"), Shane and Marcus.  Other successful riders included Oli, Jo, Jason, James, Mark, Sam and Saichong.  Ride safely guys – and enjoy!

The latest Mod 2 passes have been pretty impressive too! James completed an outstanding test and we’ve never seen anyone remove his ‘L’ plates so quickly! Paul was equally relieved to pass in time for a planned ride to Wales on his new Lambretta, whilst brothers Tony and Carl also enjoyed success. Sam, Mark and Craig were all had cause for celebration too. Congratulations to all of these great riders!

We love to see so many safe and successful riders pass through our doors, with many enjoying first time passes following our training courses. Do you want to become a competent motorbike rider?

Rising To The Challenge

Despite some very challenging weather conditions, another crop of budding motorcycle riders have gained a clutch of certificates at the Dave Barkshire Motorcycle Training Academy over the past month.

A particularly cold and icy day dawned when Luke was due to take his CBT, meaning it was on the verge of being cancelled, but fortunately the sun broke through and success was his. Congratulations Luke!

CBT success was also gained by Antony, Kara, Leo, Craig, Dominic, Nathan and two other Lukes would you believe? We think Luke must be the lucky name of the month! Anne and Kenny also completed their CBT in very wet and cold conditions. Have a great time guys and ride safely.

Craig also had to face somewhat challenging conditions for his Mod 1 test – great result Craig, you actually made it look very easy!

Tony and Carl both completed their CBT training before going on to Mod 1 success despite the weather – can you try and bring better weather with you for your Mod 2 training guys?

Congratulations to James for passing his Mod 2 on the back of successful Mod 1 and CBT completion. Fantastic result James, enjoy your new KTM!

Finally Przemyslaw passed his Mod 2 first time, within weeks of passing his Mod 1 with a clean sheet!

As you can see, we’ve had many successful riders during the past month or so and your name could soon appear here too, if you sign up to Dave Barkshire Motorcycle Training. Just visit www.davebarkshiremotorcycletraining.co.uk or contact us at:
